Can Black Girls Blush?

I’m totally into make-up these days. It has been BREAKING MY HEART that this move hasn’t allowed me to make my weekly MAC purchase and I cannot wait till I’m back in a place where I can have my life back (another post entirely). I like wearing a natural look; I haven’t crossed over into anything SnAzZy quite yet (I’m scheduled for a MAC gift card for my bday though YES!). I’ve been getting pretty good with my technique but one thing I CANNOT seem to get the basics for is blush.

I currently own:

get away bronzePetticoat

(Left) – Get-Away Bronze Frost Powder Blush and (right) – Petticoat Mineralize Skin Finish blush. Applying the golden blush isn’t too hard because even if I don’t “apply it correctly'” it’s gold. It cannot look bad! LOL! But the petticoat…

Here is another beautiful woman I hair stalk on YouTube. I'm thinking that my texture will between her hair and BeautifulBrwnBabyDol's. They really keep me motivated not to keep growing my hair but motivated to stay interested as far as believing it will grow, researching products and styles, and just to keep 100% interest in the many things I can accomplish with my naps!

BeautifulBrwnBabyDol

I love her videos! She is one of the people I stalk for hair advice and products on a regular!! I love everything about her hair and since I think (think) my hair will be somewhat similar to hers, I take notes on these videos! (Also check her accent. It's so cute!!)

A Movie Lover's Suggestions

Here are two movies I really want to see:

I love Ari Gold so I KNOW I'll love this character!!

I don't usually watch scary movies...well I never watch scary movies but I think I'm going to take a chance with this one. It looks really good and I am absolutely in love with the actor that played Capt. Kirk so I am looking forward to seeing him in this movie as well.

Memphis Jookin

Remember when Three 6 Mafia was REALLY hot and Crunchy Black used to do a dance with his feet? I remember 'we' used to call it "The Crunchy Black" because we thought it was something he created. We were so wrong. The dance is called Memphis Jookin (I've finally caught up to 2009) and I am totally smitten by this dance. Here's a vid: B Frank and Lil Buck killed it!

WHY WHY WHY?!?!?!?!

WHY WHY WHY are groups so manufactured these days?! A friend of mine is telling me about a 'new' group in Miami (new to the rest of the world) that get hella radio play down there so I Google them and this is what I find:

O_o

How the f*$K am I supposed to take you seriously when you look like a wax figured boy band. On top of that there is SOOOO much autotune in their music that you can't even tell if they're talented!! OMG 2009 makes me sick sometimes. Is this really the only direction music execs are allowing new talent to follow? If so...I digress.
Check out this video. When they sing live (first 20 seconds) they sound alright (talent wise). After that.... SMDH

Racism in Cartoons

In light of Disney's first black princess, Tiana, I wanted to post some vids I found on YouTube.

First this is the trailer for the 2009 release of The Frog Princess:

Racism in Disney's Cartoons:

Racism through sound in Disney Cartoons:

Sexism, Strength and Dominance: Masculinity in Disney Films:

I want to point out that I am in no way upset or offended by these videos because at that point in time Black Americans, or any other race for that matter, weren't getting any respect in America so how can you blame Disney for following suit? It just amazes me to know that what I was watching as a child was basically grooming me to be less than and never equal to a 'superior' race and/or gender. These videos are in no way life changing but if you can take the time to watch a couple minutes in each of the videos you will have some flashbacks from your child hood and your opinion of your favorite Disney moment will change...

April Fool's

Yesterday was April Fool's day and I ran into a few internet jokes. With Youtube being #1 for the day with the upside down viewing I'd have to say that Asher Roth is coming in for a close second. LMAO!
